Flume Experiments on Energy Conversion Behavior for Oscillating Buoy Devices Interacting with Different Wave Types

چکیده
Oscillating buoy device, also known as point absorber, is an important wave energy converter (WEC) for development and utilization. The previous work primarily focused on the optimization of mechanical design, buoy’s array configuration site selection with larger density in order to improve generation performance. In this work, enlightened by potential availability Bragg reflection induced multiple submerged breakwaters nearshore areas, we investigate conversion behavior oscillating devices under different types (traveling waves, partial fully standing waves) flume experiments. localized field generated resonance at incident side rippled bottoms. Furthermore, vertical baffle installed flume. Then power performance discussed conditions same height but types. experimental measurements show that WEC could be improved condition waves when compared traveling waves. This provides comparison evidence response between travelling (fully or partial) conditions.

Computer Vision for Wave Flume Experiments
During the past several decades, a number of attempts have been made to contain oil slicks (or any surface contaminants) in the open sea by means of a floating barrier. Many of those attempts were not very successful especially in the presence of waves and currents. The relative capabilities of these booms have not been properly quantified for lack of standard analysis or testing procedure (Hud...
متن کاملWave Energy Resource Analysis for Use in Wave Energy Conversion
In order to correctly predict and evaluate the response of wave energy converters (WECs), an accurate representation of wave climate resource is crucial. This paper gives an overview of wave resource modeling techniques and applies a methodology to estimate the naturally available and technically recoverable resource in a given deployment site. The methodology was initially developed by the Ele...
متن کاملSystematic Design of a Heaving Buoy Wave Energy Device
Oscillating type devices constitute a major class of offshore wave energy converters. In view of the characteristic of the wave energy in China that is low in energy density, a new heaving buoy wave energy device is designed. The paper introduces the basic components of the device, including buoys, support platform, submerged platform, anchor system and hydraulic power take-off, addresses the s...
متن کاملFlume experiments on the migration rate of wave - formed ripple marks
The migration rate of wave-formed ripple marks was investigated using a twodimensional wave flume. Well sorted fine-grained sand (0.2 mm in diameter) was placed on a 1/20-fixed slope and an adjacent part of the horizontal flume bottom. The onshore migration rates of ripples and near-bottom orbital velocities were measured at three sites along the slope with different water depths and at one sit...
متن کاملExperimental observation of oscillating and interacting matter wave dark solitons.
We report on the generation, subsequent oscillation and interaction of a pair of matter-wave dark solitons. These are created by releasing a Bose-Einstein condensate from a double well potential into a harmonic trap in the crossover regime between one dimension and three dimensions. Multiple oscillations and collisions of the solitons are observed, in quantitative agreement with simulations of ...
